There are so many things to do in Algonquin Park during March Break (March 8 to 16, 2014).

Skiing in Algonquin Park During WinterMild winter temperatures are expected in Algonquin Park during March Break with day-time highs forecast to hover near the freezing mark. Snow depth remains about 60 centimetres measured at the Park’s East Gate. This means great conditions for those looking to use Algonquin Park’s ski trails and the Mew Lake Campground skating rink all of which are expected to remain open throughout March Break. For those looking to snowshoe try a walk around Spruce Bog Boardwalk Trail or many of the other Park interpretive trails, for the opportunity to catch of glimpse of some of the Park’s winter wildlife. Snowshoers can also explore the (ungroomed) Minnesing Ski Trail or the Sunday Lake Dog Sled Trail.

Algonquin Park Visitor Centre in WinterThe Algonquin Visitor Centre, with its exhibits, restaurant, bookstore, observation deck, and bird feeders, will be open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm during March Break. Stop in to discover more about Algonquin Park and witness the bird life at the feeders including a large flock of Evening Grosbeaks, a rare experience for many in southern Ontario since the 1980s. The Park’s West Gate and East Gate are also open daily, check the Events Calendar for times.

Yurt at Mew Lake CampgroundDeveloped camping for tents and RVs is available at Mew Lake Campground with the option of electricity. Backcountry camping is always available for those seeking the solitude of winter in Algonquin’s backcountry. See the Winter in Algonquin Park webpage for more camping details.
