Barron Canyon/Lake Travers Road to Reopen on October 5, 2016
The Barron Canyon/Lake Travers Road will reopen to public travel on October 5, 2016. The road closure for culvert replacement at km 37 of the Barron Canyon Road is expected to be completed ahead of schedule. All areas listed as closed starting October 2, 2016 (see list below), will reopen on October 5, 2016.

Barron Canyon/Lake Travers Road Closed to All Traffic at Km 34 - October 2 to 7, 2016

Ontario Parks is reporting that the Barron Canyon/Lake Travers Road will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 8:00pm on October 2, 2016 to 12:00pm on October 7, 2016 for a culvert replacement at km 37 (Forbes Creek). In preparation for this closure, the Barron Canyon Road will be restricted to one lane in the vicinity of the culvert replacement starting September 26, 2016.
This closure impacts access to:
- Achray Campground
- Grand Lake - Achray Access Point
- Eastern Pines Backpacking Trail (Achray Campground trailhead)
- Berm Lake Trail
- Jack Pine Trail
- Pretty Lake
- Lake Travers Access Point
Access to Park facilities between the Sand Lake Gate (km 18) and the Brigham Lake Parking Lot (km 33) will remain open. This includes:
- Sand Lake Gate
- McManus Lake Access Point
- Barron River via Brigham Lake or Barron River Parking Lot at Squirrel Rapids
- Barron Canyon Trail
- Mallard (Sec) Lake Access Point
- Eastern Pines Backpacking Trail access via the High Falls Cheater Trail (at km 34) only
- Number One Lake
- High Falls Cheater Trail
- All of Algonquin Park's Highway 60 Corridor including the West Gate, East Gate and Visitor Centre.
